OUR FOUNDER…
Scott Kerkmans is an established authority and a fresh voice in the diverse and growing brewing community. Scott has been a professional brewer for over 4 years. Initially as a head brewer at a regional brewpub and most recently as an award winning brewer at Alaskan
Brewing Company.
In 2006, Scott started the beer consulting firm Nazdar Beer, Inc. and the Beer Conscious Training Program. Since that time, has consulted with everyone from national/craft breweries to world class distributors and international restaurant chains to help improve beer knowledge.
In 2007, Scott beat out over 7,800 applicants to become the world’s first Chief Beer Officer (CBO) for Four Points by Sheraton Hotels. In this role he implemented an extensive beer program at the retail level to over 140 hotel and restaurants worldwide.
Prior to starting his own firm, Scott sold beer and helped train employees for Crescent Crown Distributing in their highest volume on-premise sales route. He also authored beer articles for Wine Enthusiast and Draft Magazine, among others. In addition, Scott was the first individual to become a Certified Cicerone in the world in 2007. He also teaches beer classes at a premier Denver culinary institute, Cook Street School of Fine Cooking, and is an annual Judge and Judge Captain at the Great American Beer Festival.
In his ten years in the brewing industry, he has proven that he knows all three tiers of the beer world and has become an expert at training employees in every aspect of beer knowledge; from brewing to buying.
